Due to the COVID -19 pandemic the traditional Christmas Pageant and Carols held in the Alexandrina region in 2020 are not able to go ahead but Alexandrina Council still plans many activities for the festive season.
Stars of Night Christmas Projections
The council is developing Stars of Night – Christmas Projections and it needs your photos to bring it to life.
In December a roaming projection unit will be set up in Strathalbyn and Goolwa, finding suitable buildings to screen rolling images provided by the community to spread some Christmas cheer.
The community is encouraged to send images of cherished memories of Christmas from eras gone by for display in the lead up to Christmas in Alexandrina.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to participate. Email in up to five photos that are at least 1MB. At least one image from each person will be used and maybe more.
Christmas Lights for the Business Community
The council is encouraging businesses light up their shop fronts to brighten up Christmas in Alexandrina.
To kick-start Christmas decorating ideas, LED indoor/outdoor fairy lights are available free to businesses, with a choice of electric or solar powered lights.
Interested businesses should email their business name, street address, contact details and preferred power source, by 30 October.
Find the eight Reindeers in Alexandrina
Community wood shed members have made wooden reindeers that will be adorned with Christmas decorations and displayed through the townships in Alexandrina.
But where will they be? Mount Compass, Milang or Strathalbyn…find the reindeers, in what will be a great adventure for kids and adults to explore the inland and coastlines of this beautiful region. Keep an eye on council's website and Facebook pages for further details and promotion.
These are just a few of the Christmas events and activities planned so far for Alexandrina. Others include Online Christmas Carols, Twilight Christmas shopping at Port Elliot and a Christmas Market in Mount Compass. Full details are on the Alexandrina Council website.
