Strathalbyn’s Christmas celebrations will be different this year but the Christmas Where the Angas Flows Committee is working hard to make sure the town is still full of festive cheer.
It was announced in September that the traditional pageant and carols would not go ahead, due to COVID-19.
In their place however, a Deck the Halls Market Day Trail will be held on Saturday, 5 December with stall holders and exhibitors to fill halls around the town with markets, food and entertainment. If you would like to find more or be involved contact Sue Eckert on 0408 362 258.
The CWA of Strathalbyn will be also be holding a twilight market on the same day, from 4 – 8pm, with a special guest appearance by the Man in Red himself
During the warm December evenings, the buildings of Strathalbyn and Goolwa will be lit up with memories of Christmases past. Alexandrina Council’s Stars of Night will set up movable projectors around the towns throughout December, illuminating walls with images from past celebrations. If you have any photographs you would like to share with organisers please contact [email protected] or phone 8555 7289.
The Alexandrina Council is also offering free fairy lights to encourage businesses to decorate their windows and premises as brightly as possible for Christmas. Limits do apply so contact council as soon as possible to take advantage of the offer.
