Christmas public art commission

Christmas in July has come and gone and the City of Victor Harbor is now looking towards Christmas proper and planning for a decorative December.

It has called for artists to submit expressions of interest in creating Christmas decorations that will beautify the town in the 2023 festive season.

The chosen artist or art team will design a suite of decorations for installation in the town centre of Victor Harbor, with a project budget of $30,000.

The council will install a program of public decorations from early December through the summer holiday season.

It wants to hear from South Australian-based artists with experience working in the public realm.

From the initial expressions of interest the council will choose three artists and pay them to submit concept designs and proposals.

The proposed designs must be built to last at least five years, be easy to install and appropriate for high-volume traffic areas.

They must also reflect the Victor Harbor ‘Feel it calling’ destination brand, drawing on the area’s natural beauty, as well as looking festive.

The council will commission the successful applicant to develop their concept through final design, fabrication and installation of their work.

Artist expressions of interest must be submitted by 5pm on Monday, 14 August via email. [email protected]
