No town puts on a seasonal show quite like Strathalbyn and its annual Christmas Where the Angas Flows celebration will be back, bigger and better than ever this year.
The much-loved community event is on tomorrow, Friday 16 December, marking the end of the school term and bringing people together to share the spirit of Christmas.
The scene will be set by a Christmas market from 2pm along Catherine Street, with food trucks from early afternoon along Albyn Terrace.
The pageant starts at 6pm and, followed by carols and entertainment in Soldiers Memorial Gardens at 7.30pm.
Free rides and entertainment are available to children after the pageant.
Spectacular fireworks close the event around 9.30pm.
Many colourful floats will join the pageant, with $200 and a trophy going to the winning entry.
Staging the event is a collaborative effort, with the Strathalbyn Neighbourhood Centre facilitating the pageant and the Strathalbyn Inter Church Council organising carols, entertainment and fireworks.
A total ‘Dry Zone’ applies to the event to encourage a fun family atmosphere.
Costs have been covered with the help of generous local sponsors, so funds raised on the night from the sale of glow sticks and donations will go towards the Strathalbyn Neighbourhood Centre Christmas Hampers for people doing it tough.
Tyndale Christian School will provide battery-operated candles free to the community, but small donations will be welcomed.
