Heavy weather has claimed another casualty on the Fleurieu, with cancellation of the Yankalilla Classic Motor Show.

The show was due to be held on Sunday 20 November at the Yankalilla Showgrounds.

With 99mm of rain recorded so far in the first two weeks of November, including more than 60mm on Sunday, according to Bureau of Meteorology figures, the showgrounds have been deemed unusable.

After assessing all possible options, organisers have regretfully decided to cancel the event, rather than risk the classic cars getting bogged.

They says they will contact all show entrants regarding registration fees.

The popular Yankalilla Classic Motor Show won the 2021 Community Event of the Year for the District Council of Yankalilla Australia Day awards.

Planning has already started for the 2023 event, tentatively scheduled for Sunday 19 November.
