COVID has irrevocably changed the way many people work, with a seemingly permanent move out of large, centralised offices towards the flexibility of working from home.
This has reduced the flow of commuter traffic between the Fleurieu and the Adelaide CBD, but has created new pressure points as not everyone is able to set up an ideal home office.
Innovative solutions have arisen to meet the needs of freelancers and small home business owners who need a bridge between home and office, whether it be for a few hours or a few days each week, or just the occasional business meeting.
The Meeting Place in McLaren Vale, Business Alexandrina’s Hub, Coomunga House and Connect Victor all offer co-working spaces, meeting rooms and hot desking, with access to business essentials such as wi-fi and coffee.
The latest addition to the out-of-office space is Mâché Coworking at Port Elliot, which is currently taking expressions of interest for membership.
Created by Daniels Langeberg, founder of Mâché Coworking, this initiative was born from a conversation over a coffee with Sam from local business Fleurieu Bike.
"We recognised the need for a support system for local businesses similar to the ones we wanted for our own small businesses and what we saw available in Adelaide.”
He says a membership with Mâché Coworking is not just access to a shared space, but an entry into a community of like-minded professionals, granting use of the Adelaide CBD space and the digital member spaces as well.
“It's an opportunity to expand your network, find business partners, share ideas, or even exchange life-changing book recommendations.”
The space runs on sustainable practices, emphasising green energy and recycling.
