Coastal ambassadors exhibit their passion

An art exhibition that celebrates the local coastline opens today, Friday 15 April, at the Red Rover Gallery.

The Coastal Ambassador program, run by Green Adelaide, brings together ocean lovers to learn about the eco-systems of local coastlines and waters, and how to protect them.

They become community champions, who willingly share knowledge within their community and actively participate in helping to protect and conserve the coast

The 2021 group of ambassadors included many creative and like-minded individuals, who decided to come together to express their love for the coast.

Their art and activism demonstrates a passionate desire to protect and conserve stunning coastlines and marine life.

The exhibition is multi-disciplinary, with works ranging from ancient Shibori Japanese textiles, photography, sculpture, jewellery and painting.

It offers an opportunity for the public to engage with issues surrounding local coastlines, and some of the proceeds will go to a coastal protection organisation.

Exhibiting artists are Karen Lever, Claire Lock, Mike Bossley, Kate Fitton, Jessica Bennett, Lizzy Farrier, Ben Ohene, Juju Haifawi and Danielle Carr.

The exhibition is open between 10am and 4pm, at the Arts Centre in Port Noarlunga, until 16 May.
