Cove won their second game in a row following a tight six-point win against Happy Valley during round five action in the Southern Football League (SFL) yesterday. In a high-scoring affair, Cove prevailed 14.11 (95) to 13.11 (89). Scott Grieve kicked four goals for the Cobras, while Ryan Need kicked three. Alistair Fleming and Jack Flett kicked four goals each for Happy Valley. James Farrugia, Grieve, Damian Roach, Aaron Wordsworth, and Need were named best for Cove. Best for the Vikings included Dwayne Ruddock, Matthew Lillis, Fleming, Joel Beeche, and Flett.
Flagstaff Hill continued their unbeaten start to 2023 with a comfortable 65-point win at Aldinga. The Falcons led by 23 points at halftime, before kicking a further eight goals to two in the second half to win 14.12 (96) to 4.7 (31). Flagstaff Hill had nine different goalkickers including Blake Aldridge (3), Aiden Grayson (2), Sam Smith (2), and Brayden Heyward-Ferors (2). Tom Pilmore kicked two goals for the Sharks. Best players for the Falcons were Heyward-Ferors, Kobe Cavouras, Brad Kirk, Reece Milsom, and Grayson. Best players for Aldinga included Bailey Pilmore, Luke Watson, and Matthew Beinke.
Reigning premier Reynella moved up to third spot on the ladder with a comprehensive 76-point win against Christies Beach. The Wine Flies led by 39 points at the last change, before kicking nine goals to three in the last quarter to win 15.16 (106) to 4.6 (30). Bailey Marshman was the leading goalkicker on the ground with four goals for Reynella, while James Conlon kicked two goals for the Saints. Marc Borholm was best on ground for Reynella and he was well supported by Sam Whitbread, Marshman, Tyler Davies, and Jason Farrier. Rhys Mundy, Nathan Stock, and Tom Truscott were amongst the best players for Christies Beach.
Port Noarlunga won their second game of the season following a 40-point win at Morphett Vale. The game was tight in the first half as the Cockle Divers took a three-point lead to halftime. It was all Port Noarlunga in the second half as they kicked eight goals to three to win 13.15 (93) to 6.17 (53). Oliver Petrohilos kicked four goals for ‘Porties’, while Khori Mills-Richardson kicked three goals for the Emus. Best players for Port Noarlunga were Tom Redden, Nathaniel Paredes, Jayden Close, Gerard Dutton, and Gary Karpany. Best for Morphett Vale include Aiden Baker, Mills-Richardson, Connor Lock, Harry Clarkson, and Liam Corrie.
