Cove Cobras consolidated their spot in the top-four after defeating Flagstaff Hill by 13 points during round eight action in the Southern Football League Women’s (SFLW) competition yesterday. ‘Flaggies’ led by six points at the last change, before Cove kicked three unanswered goals in the last term to win 5.8 (38) to 3.7 (25). Jaime Norup was named best for the Cobras and she was well supported by Dana O'Brien, Angelique Dean, Kate Galley, Ella Gill and Rebecca Silverlock. Amber Cloughessy kicked three goals for Flagstaff Hill, while their best players were Emma Hodgson, Brooke Watson, Chloe Meyers, Elise Winton, Rachel Crockart and Melanie Koster.
Reigning premier Reynella moved a game clear on top of the ladder after defeating Port Noarlunga by 33 points yesterday. The Wine Flies won 7.5 (47) to 2.2 (14). Sarah Bourn and Jaya Shreeve kicked two goals each for Reynella, while their best players were Zannah Loxton, Sienna Garner, Shanique West, Madison Bennett, Dominique Byrne and Tayla Wright. Best for ‘Porties’ were Zoe Flesfadar, Philippa Worthley, Carli Morton, Rubi Sutton, Charli Faulkner and Shakira Dolman.
Ironbank Cherry Gardens won their second game of the season after beating Noarlunga by 50 points at Old Noarlunga yesterday. The visitors led at every change to win 9.11 (65) to 2.3 (15). Estelle McPhee, Olivia Walker-Obushak and Fern van Loon-Thomson all kicked two goals for Ironbank Cherry Gardens. Walker-Obushak, Josie Harris, Tahlia Ward, Bailey Preston, Audrey Myers and McPhee were named best for Ironbank Cherry Gardens, while best for Noarlunga included Kytanna Buckskin, Megan Weetra, Sarah Stanbury, Gwendolyn Mattock and Jacinta Wilson.
