Cockle Divers move inside the top four in the Southern Football LeaguePort Noarlunga have moved inside the top four in the Southern Football League after defeating Cove by 40 points on Saturday.

Port Noarlunga have moved inside the top four in the Southern Football League (SFL) following a comfortable 40-point win against Cove in round five action on Saturday at Port Noarlunga. The Cockle Divers played an excellent first half to lead by 40 points at the long break. To their credit, Cove dug deep to break even in the second half as Port Noarlunga won 15.17 (107) to Cove 10.7 (67). Ian Milera kicked four goals for Port Noarlunga and now has 20 majors for the season while Ashley Baxter chipped in with three goals. Bradley Young kicked four goals for the Cobras. Dylan Williams continued his good season for the Cockle Divers with a best on ground performance while Nikolas Flynn was named best for the Cobras.


Christies Beach consolidated second position on the SFL ladder with a convincing 55-point win at home against Happy Valley. The Saints set the win up with a dominant first half which saw them take a 50-point lead into halftime. Both sides were inaccurate and managed just three goals each in the second half as Christies won 14.16 (100) to 5.15 (45) for their fourth victory of 2020. Daniel Nobes kicked four goals for the winners and now has 30 for the season after just five games. Henry Kerrison was the only multiple goalkicker for the Vikings with two.


Noarlunga ground out a 23-point victory at Reynella to post their third win in a row and move up to third spot on the ladder. Noarlunga led by just 11 points at three quarter time before a three goal to one final term saw them win 7.12 (54) to 4.7 (31). Callum Gaspari and Reece Martell each kicked two goals for the Shoes. Sammual Miller, Troy Johnson and Gaspari were best for Noarlunga while for the second week in a row, Steven Farrelly was named best for the Wine Flies.


Flagstaff Hill defeated Morphett Vale by 51 points to remain undefeated and on top of the ladder after five rounds. The Falcons were never in trouble on their home deck after a blistering first quarter display saw them kick 7.5 to 2.0 to take a 35-point lead into quarter time. The margin grew to 42 points at halftime and it could have really blown out in the second half but the Falcons could only manage an inaccurate 3.14 to 3.5 after halftime to eventually win 11.23 (89) to 5.8 (38). The Falcons had eight different goalkickers with Mitchell Johnson (3) and Ben Rossi (2) leading the way. Jack Glazbrook was the only multiple goalkicker for the Emus as he finished with three majors.
