Cockle Divers still undefeated in Southern Football

Port Noarlunga remain undefeated after a come-from-behind nine-point win against reigning premier Reynella during round seven action in the Southern Football League (SFL) at Port Noarlunga yesterday. The Cockle Divers trailed by 15 points at the last change, before kicking seven goals to three in the final term to win 15.9 (99) to 13.12 (90). Oliver Goss, Nathaniel Paredes, Oliver Petrohilos and Zac Sproule kicked two goals each for ‘Porties’, while Jake Agnew and Brad Potter each kicked four goals for the Wine Flies. Best players for Port Noarlunga were Paredes, Brodie Smith, Ryan Kelly, Goss, Richard O'Grady and Gary Karpany. Reynella was best served by Talon Copley, Mitchell Scotland, Liam Reid, Daniel Whitaker, Potter and Tyler Davies. 


Christies Beach consolidated their spot in the top-five after a comfortable 80-point win against Morphett Vale yesterday. ‘Christies’ opened up an unassailable 82-point lead at halftime, but to their credit, Morphett Vale battled hard to win the second half. Ultimately the Saints came out on top 20.14 (134) to 8.6 (54). Christies Beach had 10 different goalkickers including Zak Short (5), Sean McIvor (4) and Callum Bennett (3), while Joel Handreck kicked two majors for the Emus. Best players for Christies Beach included Harrison Butcher, Joshua Semmens, Thomas Kirwan, Brodie Johns, Bennett and Kye Anderson. Morphett Vale’s best players were Vincent Tassone, Oleh Trus, Jack Carpenter, Connor Panozzo, Cody Mulloy and Toby Irlam.


Noarlunga won their second game of the season following a comprehensive 97-point victory over Aldinga at Old Noarlunga. The Shoes won every quarter on their way to a 19.16 (130) to 5.3 (33) victory. Brad Inglis continued his good season for the Shoes with seven goals (29 for the season), while Vic Robertson slotted three majors. Tom Pilmore was the sole multiple goalkicker for Aldinga with two goals. Nick Mott was named best for Noarlunga with support from Brad Inglis, Dustin Inglis, Callum Gaspari, Luke Ross and Jake Anderson. Harrison Jarman, Blake Florance, Joel Cartwright, Logan Edwards and Angus Stangewitz were named in the best players for the Sharks. 


Happy Valley won their sixth game in a row following their 79-point win against Ironbank Cherry Gardens at Cherry Gardens yesterday. The Vikings had a whopping 44 scoring shots but they were inaccurate with their 17.27 (129) to 7.8 (50) win. Nick Kraemar kicked four goals for Happy Valley, while Jak Goudman-Glasson kicked three goals for the Thunderers. Happy Valley was best served by Cooper Rogers, Kraemer, Lachlan Hamilton, Harry Spacie, Joel Beeche and Nick Frisby-Smith. Best players for Ironbank Cherry Gardens included Alec Bryars, Levi Grigg, Ben De Kievit, Isaac Hoepfl, Kyle Schefe and Ben Marsh.


Flagstaff Hill moved back inside the top-three with a workmanlike 27-point win against Cove. ‘Flaggies’ only led by 10 points at the last change, before kicking four goals to one in the final term to win

11.13 (79) to 8.4 (52). Ben Rossi (3), Blake Aldridge (2) and Nathan Beenham (2) were the multiple goalkickers for ‘Flaggies’, while Lincoln Holder and Ty Bastian kicked two goals each for the Cobras. Aiden Grayson, Rossi and Beenham were named best for the Falcons, while best players for Cove were Riley Jones, Lachlan Hayes, Jack Plenty, Bastian and Aaron Reich.
