Cockle Train back on track to Victor

Victor Harbor has welcomed back SteamRanger’s Cockle Train services from today, Sunday 9 July.

The south coast town had been cut off following a train derailment in Port Elliot on 21 May that damaged the track.

SteamRanger has thanked Keolis Downer and its volunteers for generous support that has restored the track between Goolwa and Victor Harbor just in time for the school holidays.

During the school holidays, 9-23 regular Cockle Train services will resume, hauled by diesel locomotive 844.

There will be three return trips per day, between Goolwa and Victor Harbor, with tickets only available at the stations on the day of travel.

It has been a rough year for the popular south coast attraction, with services temporarily suspended following a crash and derailment at Middleton on 14 June.

Visit the SteamRanger website for full details of services and bookings.
