Community contributes to coastal emergency plans

Alexandrina Council has called for people living around Goolwa Channel and Mundoo Channel to get involved in planning ahead for coastal emergencies.

It is drafting a Community Coastal Flood Emergency Plan to enable response to the identified risk of coastal flooding.

The council will host three workshops between February and April and encourages residents to attend all three.

The first workshop will be held on 8 February from 6pm to 8pm at Centenary Hall, in Goolwa.

It will give an introduction to community emergency management planning.

Subsequent workshops cover different topics and will build on information shared in previous sessions.

The second workshop, on Thursday 29 February, will cover how flood events are currently managed.

The final workshop, on Thursday 11 April, will include a presentation of the draft Community Coastal Flood Emergency Plan.

More details about the workshops and the preparation of a Community Coastal Flood Emergency Plan for the Goolwa and Mundoo Channels can be found on the Alexandrian Council website
