Community day features bushfire safety

A community day on Sunday 14 March will include a display of latest bushfire safety innovations along with its program of family-friendly fun.

Organiser of the Kangarilla Community Family Fun Day Bernadette Boag says the event is part of the community’s broader neighborhood resilience and connection programs, which are supported by the City of Onkaparinga.

“Entry is free, all are invited, and there’ll be something for everyone with plenty of fun stuff including the petting zoo, a jumping castle, market craft stalls, and community group fundraisers.”

Ms Boag says the event will also include a focus on community safety, with local CFS in attendance and exhibits for residents wanting to learn more about how to protect their homes in event of fire emergency.

Chris March, organiser of Lobethal’s recent Bushfire Expo, has arranged a ‘mini-Expo’, including two new Adelaide Hills bushfire management innovations.

“In Lobethal last December we were overwhelmed with the response to some of these new inventions, and we’re keen to keep spreading the word about South Australian ingenuity,” he says.

“This is a terrific opportunity to bring the conversation about bushfire preparedness to a new community.”

Attendance to the Kangarilla Community Family Fun Day is free. The event on Sunday,14 March will run from 9am to 2pm, at the Kangarilla Recreation Ground.
