Community food hub for Seaford

City of Onkaparinga is looking into establishing a community food hub in the Seaford area and is looking for community input.

It would be set up with funding from the Department for Human Services as one way to help mitigate the cost of living and help people to make ends meet.

A community food hub offers:

  • Low-cost groceries and essentials in a community shop.
  • Opportunities to connect with others in the area.
  • Skill-building activities and support programs tailored to local needs.

It offers a welcome to all who feel they need it, with no hoops to jump through to qualify.

The council has created a survey to make sure there is a community voice on what such a food hub would look like and how it would operate in Seaford.

It can be completed online, or people can attend a community drop in session to ask questions and contribute ideas.

They will be held on Saturday 9 August from 2pm to 4pm at Seaford Community Centre and on Thursday 21 August from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at Hasting Street Hall.
