A town meeting to discuss the crisis of mental health, housing and basic needs will be held at Aldinga’s Here’s to Strength Community Wellness Hub on Wednesday 17 August.
Organisers have extended an invitation to anyone living south of Adelaide, but especially those in Aldinga, Seaford, Port Noarlunga, Willunga, Sellicks Beach, Myponga, Mount Compass, Victor Harbor and surrounding areas.
The community-initiated meeting will be an open forum hosted by Elise Riannen and other hub volunteers that aims to improve the quality of life and wellbeing for the local community.
On the agenda will be people’s experiences with the mental health system, housing crisis and rising costs of basic needs.
There will also be a paper document available for those attending, who don’t have the time or willingness to speak, to record their experiences.
Elise will draw on everyone’s experiences to develop a proposal for reform and funding in the area to go to the various Ministers responsible.
She is seeking solutions-focused opinions to inform her proposal for positive outcomes.
The scope will include describing barriers to getting assistance and providing real time based solutions generated by the community.
Here’s to Strength Community Wellness Hub is at 1A Old Coach Road Aldinga and the meeting will start at 6pm.
Those unable to attend who would like to contribute their ideas can email them to the hub.
