Kalyra has begun a program of community engagement on the future of the McLaren Vale and Districts War Memorial hospital site.
The 21-bed community hospital was closed on 30 June last year after its board determined it was not financially viable to keep it open.
Management of the site has since been transferred to the James Brown Memorial Trust, which operates not-for-profit aged care provider Kalyra.
Kalyra has committed to maintaining all the services currently operating from the site, except for the former hospital.
The consultation period runs until 6 September and includes an online survey and small group ‘community conversations’.
The advisory group and the Kalyra team will also attend several community events in Aldinga, Willunga and McLaren Vale over the next two months, culminating in an open day at the hospital site 31 August.

A group of McLaren Vale residents has been campaigning against the Kalyra takeover, objecting to ‘handing over’ a community asset and taking legal action. Visit the Facebook page for more information.
