City of Onkaparinga is proposing to lease community land in Port Willunga for a community, social and affordable rental housing project.
The council says it is looking at ways it can contribute to easing the housing crisis and this pilot process would lease a part of Skoda Street Reserve for up to 42 years.
It is asking for community feedback on a draft Community Land Management Plan that would facilitate the project.
If approved, future steps would include the council inviting expressions of interest from registered community housing providers to submit proposals to develop, construct and manage the project.
This would provide community, social and affordable housing for rent to eligible people in the community.
The council will hold a listening post for community discussion of the proposal at the Aldinga Shopping Centre on Saturday 17 May, between 10am and 1pm.
More information about Skoda Street Reserve and the draft Community Land Management Plan can be found online, where feedback can also be lodged.
Community consultation will close on 26 May.
