The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) will hold a series of community information sessions across Kangaroo Island next week.
DIT is undertaking several major infrastructure upgrades on the island to boost freight routes and deliver improved essential services.
It says insights from the local community and key stakeholders will play a key role in informing the development of these projects.
They include the Kangaroo Island ports upgrade; master planning for harbour precincts; road safety and the bushfire resilience package.
Representatives from DIT will be on Kangaroo Island to meet with the community to share information, concept plans and answer any questions they may have about the projects.
Drop-in sessions will be held at the following dates:
Register to attend these sessions via the DIT website.
DIT also expects to start major works on the Playford Highway and Hog Bay Road, including vegetation removal, on Monday 18 September.
Works will be undertaken Monday to Sunday between 7am and 5.30pm and are scheduled to be completed mid-2024, weather permitting.
The department has advised the community to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and take extra care when workers are on site during this period.
Playford Highway and Hog Bay Road will remain open to traffic at all times, but speed restrictions will be in place and traffic may be temporarily reduced to a single lane.
More information about the project is available on the DIT website.
