The first in a series of five community-led disaster resilience workshops for the Ashbourne community will be held on Monday 17 July.
Facilitated by Alexandrina Council and the Australian Red Cross, the workshops aim to get people connected and get the community prepared to deal with disaster.
They will offer the opportunity to get to know other people and community organisations in the area and understand more about local risks.
People can discuss the knowledge, skills and resources in the community that can help strengthen disaster resilience and contribute to creating community led disaster action plan.
The community will be given ongoing support to implement a disaster resilience action plan and network with other community-led disaster resilience groups.
The workshops will be held at the Ashbourne War Memorial Hall on Bull Creek Road from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
A barbecue dinner and hot drinks will be provided on the evening of the first workshop.
Activities for kids will be available in the Supper Room and everyone is advised to wear warm clothing and rug up as the hall can be cold.
Registration is free and essential, via Eventbrite.
