With seemingly endless bad news this week, getting out into nature and feeling like we’re doing even just a little bit of good for the world might be what many of us need right now.

If you’d like to plant some trees and help the local dunes the Fleurieu Environment Centre is holding two Community Planting Days in coming weeks and volunteers are always welcome,

On Monday (August 23) the Centre is planning to plant about 200 plants within the Normanville Dunes. The work should take about two hours to complete and will start from 9.30 am. Parking will be available at the carpark on Shakeshaft Drive at Carrickalinga Sands.

Next Sunday (August 29) will be a planting morning in the eastern end of Bungala Park. Work is again expected to take about two hours and will start from about 10am. Access to the site is via Hay Flat Road (turn right just after the bridge).

To find out more or register to attend you can call the Centre on 8558 3644 or email [email protected].

The Normanville Dunes are listed on the State Heritage Register as “the last major relics of similar costal dunes that once existed along the east coast of Gulf St Vincent”.

The Fleurieu Environment Centre is located in the main street of Normanville and was previously known as the Normanville Natural Resource Centre.
