Alexandrina council will hold a drop-in session to discuss the Lot 10 Recreational Precinct on Langhorne Creek Road at Strathalbyn.

The community consultation exercise will be held on Wednesday 27 April, at 6.15pm at the Strathalbyn Library on Colman Terrace.

It will be an informal gathering and an opportunity for interested locals to discuss the project and its outcomes.

The council-owned land at Lot 10 Langhorne Creek Road has been earmarked as a recreation precinct for many years.

The process of preparing a plan for its development began in 2018 and a concept plan was prepared to inform a change to the zoning of the land enabling it to be developed for recreational purposes.

In June 2021 the council formed a Project Steering Group comprising the Mayor, three councillors and representatives from local recreation and sporting groups.

In February this year the council engaged consultants Hemisphere Design and Hatch to assist in preparing a Master Plan for Lot 10. This will provide the framework to deliver on the project.

The initial information gathering and drop-in-session on 27 April will contribute to the Master Plan.

The initial concept plan and concept plan report can be accessed on the Alexandrina Council website.

The council will provide future community consultation opportunities to provide feedback when the draft Master Plan is developed.

It expects the draft Master Plan will ready for community consultation by late May- June 2022, with the final Master Plan prepared by the end of June for Council endorsement.
