Alexandrina Council wants to revoke the community land classification on three land parcels in Strathalbyn to facilitate housing development.

The council says the land parcels are inaccessible reserves within private property.

Located in the131 and 134-137 Hundred of Kondoparinga, on Sandergrove Road, the area is commonly referred to as Whittam’s Transport Company land.

The reserves are not owned by the council so the revocation would revert them to Crown lands.

The council says the parcels do not provide realistic open space solutions for the current or future community use of this space.

The proposed revocation is now open for public consultation, which closes at 5pm on Friday 16 February.

Following community feedback, the council will consider approaching the Department for Environment and Water for approval to revoke the dedication of these reserves.

More information on the proposal can be found on the Alexandrina council website, along with how to provide feedback.
