The Chief Executive Officer of Alexandrina Council, Glenn Rappensberg, has announced that he will not seek a second contract with Alexandrina Council.
He will finish in his leadership role at the end of his current five-year term, which expires in May 2022.
Mr Rappensberg says he’s been delighted to lead the team at Alexandrina Council and is proud to have worked with them on a number of significant achievements for the local community.
“While my decision may surprise some people, I simply didn’t feel that I could make the commitment to another five-year term.
He says five years is a significant contract in Local Government, particularly given the current failing health of his elderly parents, who live in Queensland.
After returning from a visit to Mount Isa he says it was unfortunately very clear that he will need more flexibility to be able to support his Mum and Dad going forward.
“However, I will leave the role with great memories and real pride in the contribution that I have made and the achievements of our entire Alexandrina Council team.”
“While the end of my contract is still some months away, I felt it was only fair to let the Alexandrina Council team, the elected members and the broader community know of my decision now, to allow for a smooth transition to a new CEO,” he says.
“Our region has a great future and I look forward to watching its continued growth and success with a new CEO at the helm.”
