Community consultation is now open for Alexandrina Council’s final Draft Climate Emergency Action Plan and Environmental Action Plan.
The council recognises that tackling climate change and environmental stewardship while maintaining thriving and liveable places for people is a monumental challenge – one that can only be successful by working with the community.
Because of these challenges, the council is preparing two key strategic documents, the draft Environmental Action Plan and the draft Climate Emergency Action Plan.
The Environmental Action Plan 2030 expresses the council’s commitment to being worthy stewards of local land and waters, setting the context for protecting and managing ecosystems.
The Climate Emergency Action Plan is the key strategic document to reduce council and community emissions within Alexandrina, to prepare for a changing climate and to seize opportunities on the road to net zero.
Following an initial community information session in Goolwa on Monday 4 September, two more sessions have been scheduled.
They are at Strathalbyn Community Centre on Tuesday 12 September from 4pm to 7pm and at Goolwa Council Office on Tuesday 19 September from 5.30pm to 7pm.
Register to attend either event via Eventbrite.
The community can also review the draft environmental strategies and provide feedback online on the Alexandrina My Say website.
The consultation period ends at 5pm on Monday 25 September.
