Libraries across the Fleurieu will remain open, but regular programs and special events have been cancelled until further notice, observing Covid-19 virus containment measures.

The City of Onkaparinga, Alexandrina Council, the City of Victor Harbor and District Council of Yankalilla have also reduced and restricted other council programs and activities to observe social distancing protocols.

The Victor Harbor Library has introduced a ‘call and collect’ service for people who are not comfortable spending time in the library. Borrowers can call the library on 8551 0730 and staff will put aside items to collect at the front counter.

There is also a home delivery service for people who are self isolating to protect themselves or others; staff will borrow and deliver items to leave on the front door step.

Borrowing times will be increased and additional renewals of items are now available, while overdue notices will be temporarily suspended.

The Fleurieu Aquatic Centre and Strathalbyn pool remain open, as chlorinated pools have been deemed safe for use.

The YMCA, which manages the centre for Alexandrina and Victor Harbor councils, issued a statement saying all pools, recreational swimming and swimming lessons remain open. 

“We are meticulously and frequently cleaning the centre, and encouraging patrons to take extra care washing their hands before and after using the gym, wiping down equipment and coughing/sneezing into their elbows.

“We are abiding by the 100 person cap in any one particular place, suspending stadium sporting leagues, monitoring our spaces, and limiting group fitness numbers.”

Visitor centres and council operated caravan parks remain open, but the situation is under constant review.
