Councils consult on annual budgets

Autumn is budget season at federal, state and local government level, with the District Council of Yankalilla and Onkaparinga Council first cabs off the rank for community consultation.

Yankalilla’s draft annual business plan and budget is now available for inspection and the council is seeking feedback on its plans for the next financial year.

There will be four opportunities for public discussion, including two Q&A drop-in sessions, a community meeting and a Zoom session online.

The Q&A sessions will be held at the Yankalilla library on Wednesday 3 May from 3pm to 6pm and at the council chambers on Tuesday 16 May from 1pm to 3pm.

The community meeting will be at the council chambers on Friday 19 May from 4pm to 5.30pm.

The Zoom session will be online on Monday 22 May from 5.30pm to 7pm

The deadline for the community to have a say is 5pm on Tuesday 23 May, so the final plan can be adopted at a special meeting of the council on 27 June.

Onkaparinga’s draft budget is also available to view on its Yoursay page, with the deadline for feedback set for 9am on Monday 15 May.

Its plan proposes a rates increase of 8.6 per cent, in line with the Consumer Price Index.
