Cove Cobras Women consolidate their spot in the top four in the Southern Football League

Cove Cobras moved up to third spot on the Southern Football League Women’s (SFLW) ladder following a comprehensive 80-point win at home against Aldinga. The Cobras led by 14 points at quarter time, 44 points at halftime and 60 points at the final change before winning 12.8 (80) to 0.0 (0). Jaime Norup kicked four goals for Cove and she was well supported by Ashleigh Need, Renee Ullrich and Felicity Oliver who all kicked two goals. Ullrich, Lara Ward, Norup, Emma Fitzpatrick and Seraphina Moon were best for Cove. Aldinga were best served by Jemma Looyestyn, Holly Rowe, Amber O’Hanlon, Isabel Hawkins-Romain and Eilish O’Hanlon.


Reynella continued their undefeated start to the season with an 83-point win at Hackham. Reynella were never threatened as they took a 44-point lead to halftime. A further six goals to the Wine Flies in the second half saw them win 12.17 (89) to 1.0 (6). Georgia Pennifold kicked five goals for Reynella in a best on ground performance. Alana Browne kicked the only goal for the Hawks and was also named as their best player. Other good players for Reynella were Anja Bancevic, Madison Bennett, Emily Franklin and Rebecca Denyer. Hannah Crump, Chrysti Flevill, Emily Hateley-Watson and Krystal Stokes were all solid contributors for Hackham.


Reigning premier Flagstaff Hill consolidated second spot on the SFLW ladder with an authoritative 95-point win at Christies Beach. The game was all but over at quarter time as the Falcons led by 38 points. There was no let up from then on as ‘Flaggies’ kicked a further eight goals to win 14.11 (95) to 0.0 (0). Emily Brockhurst was dominant up forward for the Falcons with seven goals and Isobel Dyson kicked four. Hannah Griffin was adjudged best on ground for Flagstaff Hill with support from Chloe Meyers, Dyson, Alana Baker and Brockhurst. Brooke O’Brien, Amelia Morriss and Neriah Milis were among the best players for the Saints.
