There are currently 16 active cases in the Alexandrina Council area and 11 in Victor Harbor.
There are also eight cases on Kangaroo Island, 195 in the City of Onkaparinga council area and two in Yankalilla.
A record 996 new cases were reported in South Australia today. The cases include 84 children and 66 teenagers. Thirty-six people are in hospital, including three children under 10 and three aged between 10 and 19. Five people are in intensive care.
Local hotels, restaurants and gyms are again subject to strict occupancy restrictions in what should be one of the busiest times of the year.
Dan Court, the owner of the Islanders’ Tavern on Hindmarsh Island, took to social media after the Premier announced the restrictions on Sunday, to vent his frustration with the changes put in place to try and stem the rising number of COVID-19 infections.
Mr Court said, “I don’t think I have ever been angrier or more disillusioned than I am today.”
He says the “severe new capacity restrictions” mean he can only have a maximum of 36 customers inside his pub at one time. The hotel is lucky to have a licensed lawn area and will be using this when weather permits.
The owners of Softfoot farm, the home of the Swagman Chargrill Restaurant, alpaca farm tours and nocturnal tours in Hindmarsh Valley have decided to close completely until 27 January.
Most other restaurants and hotels are continuing to operate at reduced seating capacity and with enhanced takeaway service.
The Fleurieu Aquatic Centre has reopened after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19 after working at the site early last week.
They and all other South Australian gyms now have a capacity limit of one person per seven square metres.
