South Australia recorded 2298 cases in the 24 hours to midnight last night.
Premier Steven Marshall says 82 people are now in hospital which he say is “very much within current capacity”. The number is up from 71 yesterday and 40 on Friday.
The number of children with the virus in the Women’s and Children’s Hospital has reduced from 10 to 7.
There are now seven people being treated in intensive care, three more than yesterday.
The SA Health COVID-19 Heat map showed 81 active cases in the Alexandrina Council area, 25 in Victor Harbor, 11 in the Yankalilla Council area, 901 in Onkaparinga and 16 on Kangaroo Island.
These local figures were current as of 2pm yesterday.
The Premier says the situation in Port Augusta is likely not quite as severe as first thought.
Three people within the Aboriginal community have tested positive but no close contacts of the worker from the Sobering Up Unit.
There are now 60 COVID-19 people in the prison system. The majority are at Mobilong Prison.
A worker at the Port Augusta prison has also now tested positive.
The Premier says there are “plenty of opportunities to get vaccinated”.
The Victor Harbor vaccination clinic will reopen from 8.30am tomorrow after being closed for 10 days over the Christmas and New Year break.
The Premier also urged people to get online and book their children aged 11 and under in for their vaccine dose
He said the government was still looking at options for schools and that primary schools were his main concern. Term one is scheduled to commenced on 31 January.
