Langhorne Creek moved into the top-five after a tight eight-point win against fellow finals aspirant Mount Compass during round six action in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) at Mount Compass yesterday. The game was tight throughout, with Mount Compass leading by just two points at the last change. The Hawks finished well, kicking three goals to one in the final term, to win 9.8 (62) to 7.12 (54). Mitch Cleggett (3), Jack Keynes (2), and Jarrod Kellock (2) were the multiple goalkickers for the Hawks, while Tom Pinyon kicked three goals for the Bulldogs, and Jordan Hooper slotted two majors. Best players for Langhorne Creek included Curtis Perrey, Peter Reichelt, Kellock, Shannon Jones, and Scott Tonkin. Mount Compass was best served by Pinyon, Adam Hunter, Ziggy Vitkunas, Tomas Vitkunas, and Shane Heatley. 

Myponga-Sellicks maintained their spot in the top-three with a thrilling three-point win at home against Encounter Bay. The Mudlarks held a handy 13-point lead at halftime, before the Bays hit back in the third term to lead by four points at the last change. Myponga-Sellicks steadied to kick two goals to one in the last quarter and win 6.7 (43) to 6.4 (40). Jayden Scott kicked three goals for the Mudlarks, while Tyson Neale was a standout for Encounter Bay with five goals. Best players for Myponga-Sellicks were Nathan Hedges, Scott Ogilvie, Scott, Harrison Cock, and Cooper Gilbert. Best for the Bays were Mason Middleton, Neale, Cohen Pettitt, Callum Tonkin, and Connor Hills. 

Strathalbyn won their third game of the season with a big 99-point victory over Goolwa/Port Elliot. The Roosters led by 18 points at halftime, before kicking 15 goals to three in the second half to win 21.17 (143) to 6.8 (44). Key forward Ben Simounds kicked 10 goals for Strathalbyn in a best-on-ground performance. Brett Heintze kicked two goals for the Magpies. Other good players for the Roosters included Cooper Machin, Jake Stafford, Jacob Wright, and Lachlan Fox. Best players for Goolwa/Port Elliot were Jye Bottroff, Lucas Hughes, Tom Barry, Heintze, and Justin Watson. 

McLaren Districts made it 26 wins on the trot with a hard-fought 13-point win at Victor Harbor. The Eagles led at every change before winning 8.9 (57) to 6.8 (44). Todd McKay kicked two goals for McLaren Districts, as did Sam Basham for ‘Victor’. Joel Vandeleur was named best for the Eagles and he was well supported by Tarak Redigolo, Jamie Smith, Tom Fenoughty, and Stuart Green. The ‘Roos were best served by Rhys Mutch, Brayden Miller, Dylan Kleinig, Mitch Brook, and Sam Overall. 

Willunga won their fourth game of the season with a comfortable 43-point win at Yankalilla. The Demons led by 18 points at the last change, before kicking five goals to one in the last quarter to win 14.10 (94) to 8.3 (51). Sam Renney (4), Ryan Sherry (3), and Jaxon Hams (3) were the leading goalkickers for Willunga, while James Hargreaves kicked three goals for Yankalilla. Brad Haskett, Danny Juckers, Cam Hutchens, Lachlan Scott, and Renney were best for Willunga. Best for the Tigers included Hargreaves, Mitch Schwerdt, Joel Kay, Denver Ker, and Luke Bartlett.
