Cyber security was the focus for the fourth anniversary lunch for the Women in Business Regional Network, held at Wirra Wirra Winery.
The guest speaker, Lauren Paradise of Concept Data, fielded many questions as she outlined some of the checks people could implement in their businesses to reduce the risk of cyber attack.
Her tips included keeping and monitoring data backups; ensuring backups are disconnected when not in use; being careful with password storage and updating passwords regularly; and ensuring the latest anti-virus software was installed.
Concept Data has recently been announced as a provider of a federal government-funded program to assist businesses to be cyber secure.
It includes the offer of a free consultation to assess the cyber risk; visit the website for more details.
The lunch also coincided with the fourth anniversary of the formation of the network, which now includes more than 300 financial members across three states, including 12 physical chapters throughout regional South Australia.
Founder Carolyn Jeffrey spoke about the success of the latest developments for the network, the introduction of a coaching; mentoring and education program called the WIB Nook; and work underway to publish an online magazine WIBChat on November 1.
The next McLaren Vale/Southern Suburbs function will be a dinner at Mick O’Shea’s Irish Pub on 25 October, when Holly Little will speak about resilience.
The next lunch on 17 November will feature a presentation from Nan Berrett on how to network like a boss.
The Women in Business Regional Network is open to business owners, managers, staff and those dreaming of owning their own business.
You don’t have to be a member to attend events, but bookings are essential via Eventbrite.
