Dangerous driver arrested at Aldinga

Police have arrested a dangerous driver following crashes in the southern suburbs.

Just after 3.30pm on Saturday 2 September, police received a report of a black Holden sedan swerving all over the road as it travelled along Commercial Road, Maslin Beach towards Aldinga. The car collided with a sign post as it passed through a roundabout before driving off.

The same vehicle had been reported driving dangerously on Brighton Road, Seacliff about 3.20pm.

PolAir went airborne and was able to pick up the car in Maslin Beach and begin tracking.

The Holden collided with a member of the public on Old Coach Road at Maslin Beach but it continued driving despite losing a tyre. The occupants sustained minor injuries in the crash.

PolAir tracked the offending vehicle as it continued south along Old Coach Road. A police patrol was then able to get behind the car and activate their emergency lights where it stopped without incident and the driver was arrested.

He has been conveyed to hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

A 30-year-old man from Kilkenny has been charged with driving disqualified, driving under the influence, aggravated driving without due care and failing to stop and render assistance. The car was also impounded.

Police believe that the vehicle, a black 2006 Holden Caprice, was involved in several near misses while it travelled through the southern suburbs this afternoon. He was refused bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police would like to hear from anyone who has dashcam vision of the vehicle, or has any other information that may assist their investigation and ask them to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and quote reference #23-138M.
