Dave Hughes is subbing in to perform at this Sunday’s Grapes of Mirth comedy event in McLaren Vale.
Organisers announced yesterday (8 December) that due to family reasons, comedian Dave Woodhead would no longer be able to attend the event happening at Lloyd Brothers Winery.
Named as the replacement act, Dave Hughes is well known from the Hughesy & Ed radio show with Ed Kavalee on the Hit Network and as the host of Hughesy, We Have a Problem on Network 10. Hughes also appeared in The Masked Singer Australia on that network and has had a long career in standup and television.
Hughes starred in the inaugural Grapes of Mirth event back in February 2017 and organisers are excited to welcome him back for the first Grapes of Mirth Christmas Show.
He will join fellow comedians Merrick Watts - who is one of the organisers - Tom Ballard, Nazeem Hussain, Geraldine Hickey and Lizzy Hoo, as well as DJ Pedro Moshman.
Dave Woodhead is expected back on the Grapes of Mirth lineup in 2021.
With warm weather forecast on Sunday, organisers say they will create as many shaded areas as possible as well as a misting station.
This is the event’s first Christmas event, with Grapes of Mirth having been twice rescheduled because of Covid-19.
It will run from noon to 6pm. Local Lloyd Brothers and Adelaide Hills wines will be available, as will Goodieson's Brewery beers, gourmet food hampers, coffee, crepes and more.
Lloyd Brothers Wine is at 34 Warners Road, McLaren Vale.
Final release tickets were still available at time of writing, as were Adelaide CBD return bus trips and food hampers.
