Guided tours of the cemeteries at Currency Creek and Goolwa will be a feature of the SA History Festival in the Alexandrina district next Wednesday 14 May.
Longstanding local history volunteer and member of the National Trust Anthony Presgrave will lead a tour of the Old Goolwa Cemetery at 10am.
Until the 1960s, this cemetery held the remains of well-known Goolwa families and many children of the district.
This free outdoor tour requires enclosed shoes and sunsafe clothing. Book a place via Eventbrite.
Hosted by Alexandrina Libraries and The Friends of Currency Creek Cemetery the tour of the Peel Road cemetery will reveal the stories behind the headstones.
Local volunteers will tell all about some interesting characters who have been interred in the historic burial ground.
The free tour starts at 2pm and visitors should wear walking shoes and sunsafe clothing. Book a place via Eventbrite.
