Police are preparing a report for the Coroner following the sudden death of a man at Encounter Bay this morning.

Emergency services were called to the beach at Encounter Bay about 11am on Saturday 3 April.

The 57-year-old man had been scuba diving near the lakes inlet off Franklin Parade and collapsed while returning to the beach.

Despite the efforts of members of the public and paramedics, sadly, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

It appears the man may have suffered a medical episode and police are preparing a report for the Coroner.
