Willunga completed an undefeated season after a convincing 50-point win over McLaren Districts in the Great Southern Women’s ‘A’ Grade Grand Final at Willunga yesterday. The Demons went 15-0 in the minor round and then defeated McLaren Districts twice in the finals series to clinch the flag. The Demons got off to a good start as they led by a handy 21 points at halftime, before kicking four unanswered goals in the second half to win 10.7 (67) to 2.5 (17). Tamara Page kicked four goals for Willunga, while Sally Fuller and Lelia Barker kicked McLaren Districts’ goals. Bella Rigby (2 goals) was named best for Willunga and she received good support from Kirstin Remfrey, Page, Sarah Wright, Kristen Rothwell and Jodie Hunt. Best players for the Eagles included Caitlin Ross, Abby Woodward, Mia Hamilton, Josephine Hoare, Layla Rogers and Esther Rayner.
In the junior grades, McLaren Districts won the Under 17 Girls by 23 points against Willunga, while the Eagles also defeated Willunga in the Under 14 Girls decider by nine points.
