Demons stay top of the Great Southern Football League Women's

Willunga stayed undefeated and on top of the ladder after defeating Yankalilla/Encounter Bay by 97 points during round 3 action in the Great Southern Football League ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition at Willunga yesterday. The Demons made a great start to the game, as they took a 71-point lead to halftime. A further four goals in the second half saw the Demons win 15.8 (98) to 0.1 (1). Willunga vice-captain Tamara Page kicked five goals in a best-on-ground display, while Jodie Hunt (4), Jessica Kirk (4) and Kirstin Remfrey (2) were the other multiple goalkickers. Other good players for Willunga included Remfrey, Kirk, Hunt, Caitlin Radbone and Emma Leask. Best players for the Stingrays were Monet Hunter, Czenya Cavouras, Rhiannon Gaythwaite-Cotton, Eve Jansen, Aardhana Renata-Skeen and Taylor Haywood.


McLaren Districts are also still undefeated after three rounds after their 33-point win against Myponga-Sellicks at McLaren Vale. The Eagles led by five points at quarter time, 22 points at halftime and 27 points at the last change, before winning 6.7 (43) to 1.4 (10). Akira Whelan kicked three goals for the home side, while Tasiah Wright kicked the only goal for the Mudlarks. Alycia Hepburn, Ally Bailey, Makenzie Bryowsky, Molly Jenkins, Whelan and Bianca Coom were named best for McLaren Districts , while Myponga-Sellicks was best served by Caroline Scott, Eden Coleman, Carla Humphrys, Imogen Harney, Tayte Mathewson and Jacinta Wilson.


Goolwa/Port Elliot won their second game of the season with a tight 12-point win against Victor Harbor. The Magpies triumphed 6.7 (43) to 5.1 (31) to move to third spot on the ladder. Best players for the Magpies included Rosie Shaw, Elena Earl, Lucy Earl, Ellie Fry, Demi Trethewey and Dana Polmear. Victor Harbor was best served by Tyla Millard, Skye Kartinyeri-Sumner (2 goals), Jemma Liddell, Demi Morse, Olivia Nobbs and Layla Woods.
