Willunga wrapped up the minor premiership after defeating Victor Harbor by 33 points during round 17 action in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) at Willunga yesterday. It was the 14th consecutive victory for the Demons. The Willunga win was set up by a powerful first half that saw them lead by 33 points at halftime. Each team kicked six goals in the second half as the Demons triumphed 15.6 (96) to 9.9 (63). Liam Nye and Dylan Draper kicked three goals each for Willunga, while Jackson Elmes also kicked three goals for Victor Harbor. Nye was named best-on-ground for Willunga with Sam Renney, Nathan Stark, Daniel Lee, Jake Shirvington and Sean Beath also in the best players. Sam Overall, Ben Heaslip, Mitchell Brook, Michael Ross, Elmes and Heath Treloar were named best for the ‘Roos.
Langhorne Creek won their sixth game of the season after defeating Yankalilla by 39 points. The Hawks won every quarter on their way to an 18.17 (125) to 13.8 (86) victory. Jarrod Kellock (5), Lachie Bates (3), Jack Hall (3) and Mitch Cleggett (2) were the multiple goalkickers for Langhorne Creek, while Karlson Kantilla starred for the Tigers with seven majors. Best players for Langhorne Creek included Darcy Clifford, Henry Bruce, Cleggett, Kellock, Seth Hartland and Heath McDougall. The Tigers’ best players were Joe Tyllis, Karlson Kantilla, Brad Fitzgerald, Joel Kay, Jacob Parsons and Bailey Gaskin.
Reigning premiers Myponga-Sellicks warmed up for finals action with a 109-point win against Strathalbyn yesterday. The Mudlarks led by 41 points at halftime, before kicking a further 12 goals to one in the second half to win 20.14 (134) to 3.7 (25). Playing-Coach Darren Shillabeer kicked six goals for the Mudlarks, while Jayden Scott kicked five majors. Mitch Wilkins was named best for Myponga-Sellicks and he received good support from Anthony Kempster, Jack Cooper, Jake Spinks, Jaxon Sampson and Shillabeer. Meanwhile, best for the Roosters included Declan Gladigau, Jacob Wright, Thomas Welk, James Scott, Ethan Fox and Geoffrey Eyers.
Encounter Bay won their 11th game of the season after a 69-point win against Mt Compass. Tyson Neale kicked six goals for the Bays as they won 18.10 (118) to 7.7 (49). Tom Pinyon was the only multiple goalkicker for the Bulldogs with three goals. Marcus Lippett, Callum Tonkin, Jackson Savage, Adam Hurrell, Tyler Baldock and Neale were named best for the Bays, while best for the Bulldogs included Lochie Nash, Harley Peters, Adam Hunter, Brandon McKenzie, Darcy Boots and Dylan Camac.
McLaren Districts won their fifth game in a row with a comfortable 51-point win against Goolwa/Port Elliot. The Magpies got off to a good start to lead by seven points at quarter time, but from then on the Eagles kicked 12 goals to four to win 13.16 (94) to 6.7 (43). Codey Ellison was best-on-ground for the victors and kicked three goals, while Cameron Jarrett also kicked three goals for the Eagles. Other good players for McLaren Districts included Lachlan Camm, Brett Ellis, Archie Rutt, Kaine Hopkins and Luke Mitton. Best for the Magpies were Dene McKinlay, Jayden Davis, Samuel O'Flaherty, Jye Bottroff, Isaac Roocke and Noah Ramasawmy.
