The Esplanade car park on Victor Harbor’s foreshore will trial a digital ticket purchasing system over the summer.
The City of Victor Harbor aims to simplify the process of buying parking tickets by introducing the EasyPark app.
It will allow car park users to pay for parking tickets with their mobile phones.
The council has installed new signage at the car park to inform visitors about the new system and help drivers who are using EasyPark for the first time.
It says the benefits using the app include saving time by not having to use ticket machines and parking meters.
Users will be able to set reminders in the app to avoid exceeding the time limit and reduce the risk of parking fines.
The council says it chose EasyPark because it is an award-winning digital ticket purchasing system that is used in more than 2,200 cities across the world.
Drivers can register for the trial by downloading the app and following the prompts.www.easypark.com.au
The existing machines will stay in the Esplanade car park while the trial is underway for drivers who want to keep paying with cash.
Car parking rates will stay the same.
The EasyPark trial will finish on 30 June and the council will then be review it to decide whether to roll it out across more locations.
