Discussing women in government

What are the challenges for women entering politics in the 21st Century?

The Australian Local Government Women's Association (ALGWA) South Australian Branch will host a dinner and a facilitated panel discussion on Saturday March 27.

The women in local government dinner will be held at Chiton Rocks Surf Lifesaving Club from 6pm to 10pm.

The panel will discuss their journeys and answer questions about who inspired them, why they chose politics as a career and what advice they would give a young woman at the start of her career.

The panel comprises:

  • Rebekah Sharkie - Federal Member for Mayo
  • Moira Jenkins - Mayor of Victor Harbor
  • Davina Quirk - Yankalilla Council
  • Bronwyn Lewis – Alexandrina Council
  • Jade McHughes - Ngarrindjeri woman
  • Belinda Sullivan - Moderator

The ticket includes a two-course gourmet meal and a drink on arrival with other drinks available for purchase from the bar. Book via Eventbrite.

The ALGWA is a not-for-profit and non-political voluntary association that represents the interests of women elected to and working in local government.

Membership is open to all people and organisations interested in supporting and encouraging women's participation in local government. Details of how to join are on the ALGWA SA membership page.
