Dogs and Cats Online manage registration renewals through a statewide database for microchip numbers, as well as animal and breeder registrations.

2. Select Register
3. Select Renew Registration
4. Enter your renewal code (on your renewal notice) and surname

Then you can follow the steps to complete the registration renewal.
For people without access to the internet, registration renewals can be completed council offices by customer service staff.
All dog and cat owners must comply with South Australian Dog and Cat Management laws. This includes compulsory de-sexing, microchipping and registering pets on the Dogs and Cats Online platform.
According to the Dog and Cat Board, last month 95 per cent of registration renewals were made online, with many pet owners taking advantage of the 24-hour access.
In good news for the environment, microchipping has seen the end of plastic dog tags issued annually.
Keeping your information in Dogs and Cats Online current is important for many reasons—say you move home and your pet goes missing, you’re more likely to have them returned if their registration and microchip details are up to date.
Councils and shelters can quickly identify found dogs and cats and reunite them with their owners as soon as possible. Owners can also post ‘missing’ messages and a contact number on Dogs and Cats online.
When owners move to another South Australian council area, or if the dog or cat goes to a new home, the registration must be transferred to the new owner who should also be given the animal’s registration disc.
More information about registration, breeders and the laws around selling dogs and cats is available fro the Dog and Cat Board website.
