Kangaroo Island/Victor Harbor Dolphin Watch won the Connecting Communities award at the South Australian Community Achievement awards, presented on Friday 10 November.

The awards recognise, encourage and reward the positive achievements of South Australians.

Kangaroo Island/Victor Harbor Dolphin Watch of Kangaroo Island advocates for community-driven marine conservation, transforming lives through citizen science. 

The group engages volunteers of all ages in dolphin research, empowering communities to protect marine environments while addressing

social isolation, health, and education challenges.

It has been monitoring dolphin populations on Kangaroo Island since 2005 and Victor Harbor since 2011.

The citizen science project operates in collaboration with eco tourism vessels Kangaroo Island Marine Adventures and The Big Duck Boat Tours, Victor Harbor.
