Double premiership success as Willunga's Open Women win their first flag in the GSFLWWillunga Open Women celebrate their inaugural premiership in the Great Southern Football League after their gritty nine-point win against McLaren yesterday.

Willunga won their first Great Southern Football League Open Women’s premiership yesterday with a gallant nine-point win over reigning premier McLaren in the grand final at Victor Harbor. It was a tight, low scoring affair with just one goal kicked in the first half as Willunga led 1.2 (8) to 0.1 (1) at halftime. Willunga started to get on top in the third term as they kicked 1.4 to 0.0 and went to the last change with a handy 17-point lead. McLaren kicked their only goal of the game in the last quarter to give themselves a chance as they held Willunga scoreless, but the Demons prevailed to win 2.6 (18) to 1.3 (9). Lauren Clifton and Shae Archbold were the goalkickers for Willunga, while Tahlita Buethke kicked the Eagles only goal. Best players for Willunga were Ella Radbone, who was also best in the second semi-final, Courtney Gutschmidt, Bella Rigby, Clifton, Jodie Hunt and Caitlin Radbone. McLaren were best served by Gwen Humphreys, Layla Rogers, Tiffany Copley, Katrina Munzberg, Emily Rowe and Jenna Bowles.
