Drink-driver asleep at the wheel in Hayborough

A man has lost his licence after he was caught drink-driving in Hayborough.


Police will allege that about 2.30am today (Sunday 29 October), patrols were called to Port Elliot Road after reports that a Toyota Land Cruiser had crashed into two road signs and then drove away.


Patrols located the car stopped on Adamson Street with the driver asleep at the wheel.


Police woke the driver up and he underwent a breath test, returning a positive reading of 0.213.


The 54-year-old Goolwa South man was reported for drink-driving and driving without due care.


He was issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence notice, his car was impounded for 28 days and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
