Driver arrested for failing to stop

A man has been arrested after he failed to stop for police last night.

Just before 11.30pm on Saturday 10 August, patrols attempted to stop a Toyota SUV in the car park of a hotel on Main South Road Morphett Vale.

The driver refused to stop and it will be alleged attempted to drive directly at the patrol causing the officer to take evasive action to avoid being hit.

The vehicle then took off at speed and it was pursued onto Main South Road, before it was successfully spiked at the intersection with Beach Road.

The car continued for a short time before stopping in a service station where the driver was arrested without incident.

The 24-year-old driver from O’Sullivan Beach has been charged with dangerous driving to cause a police pursuit, drive while licence suspended, breach of learner’s permit.

He has been granted bail to attend at the Christie Beach Magistrates Court on 12 September.
