Hills Fleurieu Police have been busy on the roads this week, with drivers caught under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and one driver detected at nearly double the speed limit.
About 11pm on Thursday 29 August, police were performing speed detection duties on Port Elliott Road at Goolwa when they detected a Holden sedan travelling at 189km/h in a 100km/h zone.
Police stopped the car and spoke to the driver, a 36-year-old woman from Goolwa Beach. She was reported for dangerous speed and had her car impounded for 28 days. She will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
About 4.17pm on Tuesday 27 August on Dunreath Road at Strathalbyn, police stopped a 29-year-old man from Victor Harbor in relation to breaching his provisional licence conditions.
The man also tested positive to methamphetamine. He was given a direction notice not to drive and may face further charges once his drug sample has been forensically analysed.
About 5pm on Thursday 29 August, police stopped a 45-year-old Kangaroo Island man on Cygnet Road, Kingscote. Checks revealed the man was driving unlicenced, for which he received an on-the-spot fine.
He also tested positive to methamphetamine, and may face further charges once his drug sample has been forensically analysed.
