Driverless car arrest

Some clever questioning by Aldinga patrols has led to a man being charged with weapon offences in Old Noarlunga early this morning.

Just before 1.30am Sunday 8 August patrols pulled over a black Toyota Hilux that has been travelling along Main South Road. When police approached the car they found the driver’s seat empty but three passengers sitting in the remaining seats.

Police had cause to search the vehicle and inside allegedly found a machete, metal pole, an amount of methamphetamine and equipment. After some questioning they arrested a 40-year-old Aldinga Beach man who was suspected of being the driver.

He has been charged breach of bail, unlicenced, carry offensive weapon, possess controlled drug and equipment. He was bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 10 September.
