Drunk driver caught on Expressway

A man has lost his licence for a year after he was caught drink-driving this afternoon in the southern suburbs.


Police will allege that about 12.30pm today (Wednesday 27 July), a member of the public reported seeing a Mercedes-Benz station wagon driving erratically.


The car had several narrow misses with other cars on Victor Harbor Road before moving on to Main South Road at Old Noarlunga, then on to the Southern Expressway where it was spotted by police who stopped the car.


The driver, a 46-year-old man from Beaumont underwent a breath test and returned a positive reading of 0.171.


He was reported for exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol, his car was impounded for 28 days, he was issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence notice and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
