Eagles fly to second premiership in Great Southern Women's FootballMcLaren Districts players celebrate their Grand Final victory yesterday at Yankalilla.

McLaren Districts has won the 2024 A Grade Women’s premiership in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) after defeating reigning premier Willunga by 18 points at Yankalilla yesterday. Willunga were going for their third premiership in a row, but the Eagles would not be denied their first flag since 2020. McLaren Districts won every quarter on their way to a 7.4 (46) to 3.10 (28) triumph. Abby Woodward (3) and Sheena Peters (2) were the leading goalkickers for McLaren Districts. Emily Cooper, Jodie Hunt and Tamara Page were the goalkickers for Willunga. Layla Rogers finished off her excellent season with a best-on-ground performance for the Eagles and she was well supported by Caitlin Ross, Lisa Whiteley, Abby Woodward, Taylah Scapens and Peters. Best players for the Demons included Caitlin Radbone, Cleo Guilfoyle, Hunt, Courtney Gutschmidt, Ada Anninos and Jessica Kirk.


In other games, McLaren Districts also claimed the under 17 girls premiership with a thrilling six-point win over Willunga, while the Demons did claim some premiership glory with their under 14 girls defeating McLaren Districts by nine points to take the flag.
